The Travel Chapter celebrates win at The Travel Marketing Awards 2020

The Travel Chapter is proud to have been declared the winner of ‘Best Integrated Campaign’ for Canine Critics and been awarded second place in two further categories at The Travel Marketing Awards 2020.

There was incredibly tough competition at this year’s event with entrants including easyjet, lastminute.com and Kuoni. Therefore, to have been shortlisted for three awards – Best Integrated Campaign (under £500k), In-house Marketing/PR team of the Year and the Search Award - is a great achievement in itself.

Founded as an institution since 2009 and with an outstanding reputation, The Travel Marketing Awards recognise not only the most innovative and best performing campaigns across the past year but also seek to reward the excellence and expertise of the teams and individuals behind them.

The Travel Chapter’s leading dog-friendly accommodation provider, Canine Cottages, won the top spot for ‘Best Integrated Campaign’ with Canine Critics 2019.

The dog-friendly market has experienced massive growth in the past few years, with last year alone seeing a 40% increase in the number of dogs included on bookings for The Travel Chapter brands. And, with 26% of the UK population owning a dog, the campaign’s strategy was to target this audience through a multi-channel approach. Canine Critics reached over 2 million dog owners and did a fantastic job of growing brand awareness and increasing engagement. The campaign saw Canine Cottages recruit 10 dogs from across the UK to review cottages and test out treats. With a total of 51,850 applications from dogs ranging from 6 months old to 21 years, showcasing a whole range of breeds and personalities, the campaign was a great success.

The Travel Chapter also placed second in two other categories: In-house Marketing/PR team of the Year and the Search Award. With the majority of marketing activity run by the in-house team, across various disciplines including email, social, content, SEO and campaigns, it is an honour to be placed runners up against the many great brands shortlisted across the board.

James Starkey, Chief Marketing Officer, commented: “We are delighted that our team have been recognised for the fun and innovative campaign Canine Critics, as well as for being a team of exceptionally skilled and creative people. The hard work from the last year has certainly paid off and we’re incredibly proud to have been recognised amongst so many great brands in the travel industry. Now it’s time to focus on making this year’s Canine Critics campaign bigger and better than ever!”
