Travel Chapter proud to be B Corp Certified

We are thrilled to announce that in July 2024, Travel Chapter, home of holidaycottages.co.uk, became part of the global B Corp community. This recognises our conscious steps to balance profit and purpose and to ensure our business is conducted in more sustainable ways.

We endeavour to make positive contributions and improvements to the places in which we live, work and stay, from supporting community organisations and charities to supporting local businesses and generating employment opportunities.

Here is a little more information on the global B Corp movement and B Lab, a non-profit organisation that works to transform the economy to benefit people, communities, and the planet.

Since 2006, B Lab has been shifting the behaviour, structure and culture of over 150 industries in more than 80 countries in an attempt to move the global economy from one of profit to one that benefits all. Business needs to be a force for good and as a Certified B Corporation, we’re proud to be a part of that community.

B Corporations are companies that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. As a B Corp in the travel industry, we’re counted among businesses that are leading a global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy.

Back in July, we were given our overall B Impact Score by B Lab, after a comprehensive assessment process. We achieved a score of 85.3, compared to an average score of is 50.9 for businesses completing the assessment. Companies must score over 80 points to become B Corp Certified, and we now begin our B Corp journey, committing as a business to ongoing improvement and collective action.

Every three years, we will be assessed, with the assessment criteria constantly evolving and becoming more rigorous. The intention is that we strive to not only retain our certification but to improve our score. This is a commitment that involves everyone at Travel Chapter from the board of governors to the workers.

B Corp Certification does not mean that we are perfect, nor that we have achieved the highest possible impact. It does show that we are part of a global community of businesses working collectively for economic systems change, and that in order to stay committed to this work, we must meet rising standards for social and environmental performance.

Here’s to the future.
